Preparing to Join Us: A Guide for New Pupils and Families

We are delighted that new pupils will soon be joining Shrewsbury International School India, and we are keen to ensure that they all arrive ready to make the very most of everything on offer.

We know that preparing for a new school - and for many families, a new country - brings a lot of questions, and we want every pupil and family to feel fully supported every step of the way. In this section we aim to provide all the information needed to ensure that pupils arrive at school with everything they will need to make the most of the opportunities on offer at Shrewsbury International School India.

Our Joining Instructions for New Pupils provide full details of how families should prepare for their first term. It is important that these instructions are read carefully, and please don't hesitate to reach out if anything is unclear - we are always happy to help.

The requirements are covered in the Joining Instructions; for ease of reference, they are summarised below. Links to the relevant forms can be found in the Joining Instructions.

Medical

Every pupil's health, safety, and comfort matter enormously to us, and a little preparation before arrival goes a long way. Please ensure that the Medical Information Form and Allergy & Food Information Form (listed above) are completed accurately and kept up to date, and that each pupil's family doctor completes the Physical Fitness Certificate confirming they are fit to take part fully in our rich curriculum. You can find links to all of the forms you need to complete in the joining instructions.

Where a pupil takes any prescription medication, please pack it in a labelled, sealed zip lock bag together with a letter from the family doctor (translated into English if needed) explaining what the medicine is and why it has been prescribed. Both the medication and the letter must be handed to the infirmary staff on arrival. We ask that pupils do not arrive at school with any non-prescription medicine.

What to Bring

The full purchasing and packing checklist can be downloaded below.

Download the Purchasing and Packing List 2026–27

On the checklist there are two sections — Uniform and PE Kit, and Home Purchase — please note there are separate lists for boys and girls, alongside items that are more widely available and can be purchased from any shop or packed from home.

Ordering Your Uniform and PE Kit

All uniform items must be ordered online before arrival, via Ignited Mart:

  • www.ignitedmart.com (Click here)

  • Log into ignitedmart.com and look for the Shrewsbury International School India page, then click ‘Shop Now’ to reach the uniform page.
  • Cross-check the items against the Purchasing and Packing List.

All of the items ordered will be delivered to the School Shop. The pupils will go to the school shop on the day that they arrive to try on what has been ordered, and where appropriate have it fitted, tailors will be on hand to complete this work.

Stationery and Text Books

Stationery packs and textbooks will be issued to pupils on arrival at school and recharged to the family account.

The school shop carries a stock of stationery items which can be purchased when replacements are needed.

Laptops

Every pupil should arrive with a laptop with an integrated physical keyboard (minimum specification: Core i5, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 14′′ or 15.6′′ screen, Windows 11 Professional, plus a carry case and charger). Laptops and tablets with SIM cards are not permitted on campus — please check devices carefully before pupils travel.

What Not to Bring

We ask that pupils do not bring expensive branded clothing, watches, or jewelry to school — such items can lead to unnecessary attention, create social pressure among peers, and pose a risk of loss or theft. We also ask that pupils do not bring any food items to the campus.

Summary

We hope you've found these lists clear and helpful. Please do call or email us with any questions at all, however small — we are always delighted to help and to talk things through. We can't wait to welcome every new pupil to the Shrewsbury International School India community!
